Mr Lee Choong Yan
President,
Resorts World Bhd

Mr Lee Choong Yan is the President of Resorts World Bhd, a member of the Genting Group, which owns and operates Genting Highlands Resort, Asia’s leading integrated leisure and entertainment resort. Mr Lee is responsible for the strategic corporate development of the company as well as the overall business operations at the resort.

With an international background in finance and investment banking, Mr Lee has been instrumental in contributing to the overall growth of the company. Under his leadership over the past 10 years, Resorts World Bhd has attained remarkable achievements; from a resort with 3,400 rooms in 1998, Genting Highlands Resort has grown into a world-renowned resort with more than 10,000 rooms, nearly 180 dining and retail outlets, theme parks and international standard shows, attracting over 18 million visitors annually. The company, which is listed on the Bursa Malaysia, has a market capitalization of RM21 billion. In 2006, it recorded revenues of RM3.8 billion and pre-tax profit of over RM1.1 billion. The resort has earned an unrivalled reputation as one of the most desirable leisure destinations in Asia and has been accorded numerous awards and accolades for its outstanding achievements in the leisure and entertainment industry.

Mr Lee trained as a chartered accountant in London with the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young. He subsequently joined Ernst & Young in Hong Kong before embarking on a career in investment banking there. Mr Lee holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Business Economics and Accounting from the University of Southampton, England and is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He joined Genting Group in January 1997 and now holds various directorships in other companies within the Genting Group.
